Basketball for All

The process of adjusting into college as a freshman can be a challenge. One of the biggest adjustments is the increase in free time. Of course, you should use this time wisely studying, socializing, and being active, but even all that isn't enough to keep you busy all the time. So today I will mention a place of entertainment that is not only very fun and a good time killer for students who don't always like to party, but also affordable.

5th Row Seats at Spurs' First Playoff Game of  2011
If you are a fan of basketball a Spurs game can be a perfect outing for a group of college students. The Spurs have special deal on ticket prices for college students called "SpursU". This deal allows college students to buy any tickets for any games that are left unsold. The tickets are only $30 for lower deck seats if you're a big basketball fan and $5 for upper deck seats if you aren't the biggest sports fan, or if you simply are just low on cash . Being the Spurs fan that I am, I went to quite a few games myself last year. For several of these games I sat excitingly close to the court, including seats on the 5th (playoff game) and 11th row. These two seats alone could be worth up to a $1000 and I got them for only $60. The San Antonio Spurs play a large part in the community of San Antonio, being the only major professional sports team in the city. Due to their past decade of extreme success they are only that much more treasured.

The games can be fun and exciting for anyone who goes. They allow you to feel closer to the community of San Antonio and who knows maybe you'll make a friend or two. Whether you are a sports fanatic like me or someone who really is not that into basketball, you can still find tons of fun at the AT&T Center.

Delicious Destinations

When coming to a new city it can be challenging finding new restaurants to visit, but in this post I will describe a couple restaurants that should be tried by every new resident to San Antonio.

Rudy's Bar-B-Q in my opinion epitomizes true Texas bbq. This local bbq restaurant cooks all of their meats in an old fashion fire pit. Their menu includes a variety of tasty food including: brisket, turkey, sausage, cream corn, and beans, just to name a few. And to top it all off they have a delicious homemade sauce that makes everything that much better. Rudy's is a place that any college student can afford and a place that everyone must try.

Schilo's Delicatessen is a little German restaurant that is located in downtown San Antonio and has been there since 1917. They serve a large variety of German meals and they have delicious split pea soup and sausage. But what keeps the crowd coming is their homemade root beer. Each root beer is served in an ice cold mug, and its taste is so delicious you'll find yourself drinking two or three glasses before your food even gets out. If you are looking for something affordable and unique Schilo's is definitely the place to try.
